Patiala: The Shiromani Akali Dal has questioned the action taken by the Punjab government to redeem the panchayat lands. Senior Akali leader Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra while addressing a press conference said that all the lands which have been vacated have been redeemed from the poor while influential people have not been affected in this matter.

Mr. Prem Singh Chandumajra said that the campaign launched by the Punjab government to redeem the lands has become a displacement scheme for the people. But today the government is trying to evict the people.

He said that a meeting would be held with the Panchayat Minister in this regard and if the matter was not settled then Bhagwant Mann would also be met.

Prem Singh Chandumajra said that Justice Kuldeep Singh was talking about implementation of the report but it contained the names of bigwigs and officials who were talking about the lands near Chandigarh but the government was spreading rumors all over Punjab. Are being destroyed.

He said that there were other ways to replenish the exchequer to reduce their expenditure as the Gujarat tour cost up to Rs 44 lakh. By inviting people to Chandigarh regarding Lok Darbar, he would prove that there is a difference between their deeds and their words.

He challenged that AAP used to talk of bringing Lokpal but nothing has been done by them till the formation of government.

Chandumajra said that paddy season was approaching, farmers should get 12 hours power while power crisis in Punjab had reached critical stage. Mr. Chandumajra said that Akali Dal would stand in favor of the farmers and if need be, Akali Dal would also take a stand in this matter.

He said that the government has failed miserably in power supply, with power cuts of 8 to 10 hours daily.

Mr. Chandumajra said that the reality of the government was coming to the fore.

He appealed to the farmers to plant paddy only on June 10. At the same time, he said that the Punjab government had not even written a letter to the Center seeking compensation for the declining wheat yield. At the same time, he made it clear that there was no compromise with the BJP.
