Ghulam Nabi Azad, who left the Congress party and formed his new party ‘Democratic Azad Party’, has suffered a major setback and the Congress party has got a new strength. Before the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ reached Srinagar, 17 big leaders, including former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, have returned to the Congress after resigning from Ghulam Nabi Azad’s party DPA. All these leaders had joined Ghulam Nabi Azad’s Democratic Azad Party (DPA) when he launched it.

When asked about Ghulam Nabi Azad, Tara Chand said that only he can tell why he left the Congress party. On the occasion of these leaders joining the Congress, senior party leader K.C. Venugopal were present. He said that due to the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, these leaders have come back to the Congress and will now walk with Rahul Gandhi to fight the divisive forces.

Earlier on December 30, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad dismissed the reports of rejoining the Congress as completely baseless. He had said that I have no ill will against the Congress party and its leadership. He had said that such news is being planted in the media that I am returning to the Congress.
