21 IIT Guwahati researchers feature in the list of top 2% of scientists in the world IG News

GuwahatiA total of 21 researchers and faculty members from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, including director TG Sitaram, figure in the list of the world’s top two per cent scientists prepared by the US Stanford University, the institute said on Wednesday. ,

IIT Guwahati said Sitaram, along with 20 other faculty members, have been ranked for their lifetime contributions to their specific areas of research in their research publication citations and lists using all Scopus author profiles as of September 1.

Congratulating the faculty members for their scientific contributions, the Director said: “This recognition of many faculty among the top two percent of scientists in the world has placed IIT Guwahati on the global map of science and is a matter of great pride for the institute. I I congratulate all 21 scientists and their hard work and commitment to advance science.

Scientists are classified into 22 scientific areas and 176 sub-fields.

IIT Guwahati said in a statement that the selection is based on the top 1,00,000 scientists on the basis of C-score (with and without self-citation) or a percentile rank of 2 percent or more in the sub-field.

It added that the career-long database includes 1,95,605 scientists and 2,00,409 scientists in the most recent one-year dataset. This version (4) is based on a September 1, 2022, snapshot from Scopus, updated as of the end of citation year 2021.

The faculty members of IIT Guwahati included in the Stanford University list are from various scientific fields, including civil engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, chemical engineering, biosciences and bioengineering, chemistry, electrical and electronics departments.
