CHENNAI: The condition of 24 dams in various districts is alarming as the southwest monsoon has not relented.
There are 90 dams under the maintenance of Water Resources Department.
The total capacity of these is 224 TMC. At present, there is 85.7 TMC of water available. This is 38.2 percent of the total capacity of the dams.

The Southwest Monsoon that started in June was expected to provide inflow to several dams and increase their capacity.
But, the monsoon has not reached intensity. Due to this, the condition of 24 dams in Tamil Nadu is alarming.
