News A mother has expressed outrage after she claims her son was pushed by a police officer during a march in New Orleans, Louisiana on Thursday (February 8). Tiffany Jones told local media that her son, Brandon Mitchell, was a walk-on at LB Landry High School. and playing his horn during a Krewe of Muses parade when he was bumped and then shoved by a New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) officer. A video posted on Jones’ Instagram account shows the officer bumping into Mitchell as he plays his horn. Mitchell and another student in the group then exchange words with the officer before the group marches on. Jones said her son, his bandmates and the crowd were “in shock” at what happened, according to the report. Algiers Charter School told local media they were “deeply disappointed” by the incident. “However, we commend our students for their restraint and rejection of negative behaviour. We will initiate a meeting with the NOPD to address this matter immediately. Such behavior does not reflect the standards we expect from law enforcement, nor is it the conduct we expect our young students to encounter with authorities,” the school said in a statement.
