Ghaziabad: A deputy superintendent of police (DSP) from Uttar Pradesh has filed a case against her ex-husband with the Ghaziabad police. The police officer accused the man of “imposing himself as a fake tax official” and “defrauding several other people of lakhs of rupees”.
The accused was arrested by the police
The complainant in the case is Shrestha Thakur, a 2012 batch PPS officer. She is currently posted as CO in Shamli. She accused her ex-husband Rohit Raj Singh of marrying her by lying to her that he was an IRS officer. Not only that, he later started cheating people to get them police jobs and collect money from them.
Thakur said that they got married in 2018 through the matrimonial site. She said her ex-husband had described himself on a matrimonial website as an IRS officer stationed in Ranchi. He claimed that he was from the batch of 2008. Soon after the marriage, however, Thakur realized the reality of her husband, but she did not want to spoil the marriage, so she gave in to his demands time and again. She also met the family’s financial needs. In 2018, she took a loan against her salary and transferred the money to Singh’s father’s account.
She further accused her ex-husband of receiving Rs 15 lakh in his account using forged signatures. Even though she complied with all his demands, he continued to cheat people in the name of his wife and continued to collect money from them. When DSP confronted him, he along with his family started harassing her.
Thakur said, “Rohit beat me up and threatened to kill my child.”
The couple divorced 3 years ago. The officer, however, claimed that after misusing her name in Bihar and Ranchi, he shifted his base to Kaushambi in Ghaziabad. He continued to use her name to cheat people even after his divorce from Thakur.
He even approached the DSP staff and told them that he was the Senior Commissioner of Income Tax. The man even got married 2 years ago. The DSP also accused him of creating a fake Facebook profile using her child’s pictures.
Acting on the complaint, the Ghaziabad police have arrested Rohit Raj Singh and are interrogating him. His arrest was confirmed by ACP Indrapuram Swatantra Kumar Singh. The man was arrested on Friday last week, the ACP said.
