Kolkata : The court convicted a smuggler and sentenced him to 3 years imprisonment on charges of smuggling ganja. The Additional District Judge of the Alipore Court pronounced the sentence on Tuesday. On August 2, 2017, a person was arrested by the police from Ultadanga’s Canal East Road with 3 kg of ganja. The police had registered a case under the NDPS Act. During the court hearing, the court convicted the accused and sentenced him to 3 years imprisonment and imposed a fine of 50 thousand on him. In case of non-payment of the fine, he will have to undergo an additional six months’ imprisonment.
