“Action is needed to release the Tamil fishermen soon’- Chief Minister’s letter to the Union Minister IG News

Chief Minister M.K.Stalin has written a letter to Union External Affairs Minister Jaishankar urging him to take immediate action to release the Tamil Nadu fishermen arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy.

In his letter, the Chief Minister has mentioned that the arrest of 8 fishermen from Pudukottai district by the Sri Lanka Navy and the confiscation of their barge was brought to the attention of the Minister of External Affairs. He pointed out in the letter that 95 fishing boats and 11 fishermen are already under the control of the Sri Lankan government.


The Chief Minister has expressed his gratitude for the concerted efforts of the Ministry of External Affairs in the recent release of 12 Tamil Nadu fishermen, and urged in the letter to take serious efforts to release the arrested fishermen and their fishing boats.
