10% reservation for former firefighter in CISF as well: After BSF, now the Union Home Ministry has announced 10 percent reservation for ex-firemen in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) recruitment. The ministry has also notified relaxation in the upper age limit, depending on whether they are part of the first batch of Agniveers or part of later batches. This was announced through a notification after amending the rules made under the Central Industrial Security Force Act, 1968. “10 per cent posts in CISF will be reserved for ex-servicemen,” the notification said.

Let it be known that the ministry has also announced a relaxation in the upper age limit for firemen. It will be available based on the first batch or subsequent batches of Agnivirs. For this, the rules made under the Central Industrial Security Force Act, 1968 have been amended. The notification states that 10 percent of the posts will be reserved for ex-servicemen. The ministry has said that the upper age limit will be relaxed by five years for the first batch candidates of ex-servicemen and up to three years for the second batch candidates. Ex-employees will also be exempted from the physical test, i.e. they will not have to undergo the physical test, the notification said.

It may be mentioned that on June 14 last year, the central government had announced the Agneepath scheme for the recruitment of youth between the ages of 17 and 21 in the Army, Navy and Air Force. Under this scheme, the youth will be recruited on contract for the first four years. Under this, the soldiers joining the army will be known as Agniveer.

According to the government announcement, regular service will be offered to 25 percent of each batch of Agniveers after completing four years of service under the Agnipath scheme. For this, Agnivirs will have to pass the test. After the announcement of the Agnipath scheme, the Home Ministry had said that 10 per cent posts in the Central Paramilitary Forces and the Assam Rifles would be reserved for ex-firemen.
