Baramulla/ Jammu and Kashmir: Union Home Minister Amit Shah briefly halted his speech during a rally in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district after azaan was heard at a nearby mosque. Five minutes after he began his speech at the Showkat Ali Stadium in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, Shah, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, asked those on the stage, “Is something happening in the mosque?”

When someone on stage told him that ‘Azaan’ was happening, Shah stopped his speech. On this people applauded and raised slogans in his support. After sometime, he asked if the Azaan was complete and let him start his speech. He asked, “Do I start or not? Speak louder, shall I begin?” After asking this he started his speech.

Earlier, Shah began his speech as soon as he arrived, expressing his gratitude to the people who were waiting for him for hours. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh were present on the dais but did not address the gathering.
