A meeting of Tamil Nadu BJP State Executives was held yesterday at a private wedding hall in Suktakara, Chennai. BJP state president Annamalai attended the meeting and said, “We can grow the party only if we stand alone in Tamil Nadu. I will resign from my post if we decide to form an alliance with the AIADMK,” it was reported.
His comments caused a stir in the political arena. But on the BJP’s side, BJP state vice-president Narayanan Tirupathi had clarified that “the news that Annamalai had said that he would resign if he formed an alliance with AIADMK is wrong”.

In this case, BJP Assembly Committee President Nayanar Nagendran has commented on this. In a meeting with reporters in Tirunelveli, he said, “It is Annamalai’s own opinion that BJP leader Annamalai said that BJP should contest alone without the alliance of Dravidian parties and that she will resign from the post of BJP president if the alliance with AIADMK continues.”
He also said that the national leadership of the party will decide on the alliance and so far in the history of Tamil Nadu all the parties have contested with the alliance.
