Chatham-Kent Police have charged a 19-year-old Blenheim man who allegedly assaulted his mother, a witness and a police officer after an argument.

Officers attend a home on Chatham Street South in Blenheim for a disturbance at 9:07 a.m. on Monday

During investigation, the police came to know that there was a verbal argument between the man and his mother outside the house. Police say the dispute escalated when the man started damaging property and assaulted his mother.

Officials say a passerby witnessed the attack and intervened, and the witness was also assaulted.

The man was arrested and taken to the police headquarters. While in custody, the police say that the man indulged in further mischief in the holding cell and assaulted a police officer.

The 19-year-old was charged with two counts of mischief, two counts of assault and assault on a police officer. He was kept pending till the hearing on bail.
