Lahore: In the matter of general elections in Punjab and KP, the Election Commission has sent letters to the governors for the date of the elections. No date has been given by the governors yet.
It is necessary for the Election Commission to release the election schedule within 90 days, officials say that the election schedule can be modified after it is released.
Sources of the Election Commission say that holding elections in ninety days is not a constitutional restriction. If elections are not held in ninety days, there will be no violation of law. While the parliamentary sources say that in Article 254 of the Constitution, not holding elections for ninety days has not been said to be unconstitutional. The Supreme Court has legislated this law in a decision of 1990.
