Amit Shah tweeted that he was concerned about the situation in view of heavy rains in some parts of Assam. He spoke to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa to take stock of the situation and was assured of all possible help from the central government. Explain that floods and landslides have occurred in Assam due to continuous rains. About 1.97 lakh people have been affected by the floods in 20 districts of the state.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, 51,357 people have been affected in Kachhar district. The floods affected 652 villages in 46 revenue divisions and inundated 16,645.61 hectares of cropland. Two people were killed in Kachhar District, while three others, including two children, were missing in the district, officials said. The district administration has set up 55 relief camps and 12 distribution centers where 32,959 flood victims are taking shelter.

Flood victims rescued
The government has deployed Indian Army, paramilitary forces, fire and emergency services, SDRF, civil administration and trained volunteers for evacuation and relief operations. A joint project between the Kachhar district administration and the Assam Rifles has rescued flood victims in the Barakhla area and sent them to relief camps.
