At least one person was killed and three others were injured in an explosion in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, local police said on Wednesday.

“The blast occurred after a bomb planted in the motorcycle detonated. We are gathering information about the nature of the blast. Initial reports suggest that the blaze occurred when the motorcycle was being repaired,” said the police.

The incident took place near a hotel on Ring Road in the provincial capital.

Police said the injured included the owner of the motorcycle while the condition of one of the injured was critical.

The Bomb Disposal Unit said in a statement that a 200 gram magnet Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was used in the blast.

Police said IED devices are often used in incidents of family feud.

The media wing of the Army shared that all the six terrorists in the compound, who were well-equipped, were killed by the security forces. It added that “required intelligence follow-up” is underway to “trace their links and arrest the facilitators and expose their sponsors”.

“In the process of evacuation operation, seven sons of the soil including one civilian have embraced martyrdom while six others including a woman have been injured,” the statement said.

The Army assured that the security forces are committed to thwart all attempts to harm the peace, stability and progress of Balochistan.
