Along with that, Abdul Awal Mintoo also got involved in the controversy by making insulting comments about the country’s constitution makers. Bangabandhu Parishad strongly protested their comments.
Executive President of Bangabandhu Parishad and former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Arefin Siddique and General Secretary Farooq protested such comments by presenting a statement on Tuesday. It is said in that statement, Bangladesh is not a gift of anyone’s kindness. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his fellow national leaders fought continuously for two and a half decades against the exploitation of the Pakistani rulers and the liberation war of 1971 resulted in the independence of Bangladesh. It has also been reminded that many people sacrificed their lives in the long struggle of this period. Many more people had to be tortured. The statement also said that 30 lakh people were martyred in the liberation war. Millions of mothers, sisters, girls have been raped.

What exactly did the BNP leaders say? Gayeshwarchandra Roy was heard to say, “Bangladesh’s independence has come.” Meanwhile, Abdul Awal Mintu claimed that those who made the constitution of Bangladesh were not qualified. He also claimed that the country’s constitution will be rewritten if BNP comes to power. And then the debate began.
Bangabandhu Parishad claims that such comments indicate a deep conspiracy against Bangladesh. Along with the further comments of the council, after the independence of Bangladesh, it is possible for those who have become leaders from the ‘pocket’ of some military commander to make such stupid comments about the country’s independence and constitution. Bangabandhu Parishad also demanded to bring them under the current law calling such statements ‘treasonous’.
