Isle of Barra Distillers is pleased to announce the launch of its first Island Dark Rum.
If you’re planning a trip to the Outer Hebrides this summer, or if you just want to taste the islands at home, you’ll be pleased to hear that there’s a new Scottish island of rum to enjoy.
For Isle of Barra Distillers, the connection between their island home and the surrounding vast ocean has inspired the launch of the new Island Dark Rum. Strong, bold and rustic like the rocky east coast, while the finish is as smooth as the fine golden sands found on the west side, perfectly representing the Isle of Barra’s roots and extraordinary surroundings.
Isle of Barra Distillers ensure that Island Dark Rum is rich and full of island nautical notes and flavors, using the dominant botanical, carrageenan seaweed, for which the brand is famous, hand-harvested from the shores of Barra . Carrageenan is infused with coconut, cardamom, cloves, lemon and orange peel. Coconut and clove are first on the nose, followed soon by a crisp sea freshness. As for the flavor, the coconut and brown sugar flavors accompany a clean and dry mouth feel, while the finish imparts the complex heat of cardamom.
Available at Isleofbarradistillers.com for £35.
