The CPI(M) said a joint team of the Left parties and the Congress is visiting various violence-affected areas of West Tripura, Sipahijala and Khowa during the day.
“Once a delegation comprising CPI(M) MP E Karim and Congress MP Abdul Khaliq and AICC general secretary Ajay Kumar descended on the Nehalchandranagar market, they were attacked by miscreants chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. Senior CPI(M) leader Rakhal Mazumdar said, “One vehicle was badly damaged, while two more cars were also vandalized.”
“Our members were saved because they left immediately”, he said, adding that Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee president Birjit Sinha and state secretary of the election-winning CPI(M) Jitendra Chowdhary were also part of the fact-finding delegation.
