BJP President JP Nadda held a meeting with the party’s national general secretaries in Delhi on Tuesday and took stock of the preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in five states and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Nadda also held a meeting with Union ministers Bhupendra Yadav and Ashwini Vaishnav to discuss the party’s strategy for the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh this year. The BJP president had last month appointed Yadav as the party’s election in-charge for Madhya Pradesh and Vaishnav as co-in-charge.
Sources said that during his meeting with the national general secretaries of the BJP, Nadda discussed the party’s strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Apart from this, he also reviewed the ongoing preparations of the party for the upcoming assembly elections in Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana and discussed the future strategy.
Assembly elections can be held simultaneously in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Mizoram and Telangana later this year. While the BJP is in power in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan are ruled by the Congress. In Telangana, Chief Minister K. Bharat Rashtra Samithi government headed by Chandrasekhar Rao. At the same time, Mizo National Front (MNF) has a government in the northeastern state of Mizoram.
