‘Braille Display Board’ will be installed for the blind in the puja pandals IG News

Kolkata : A plan is being prepared to install ‘Braille Display Boards’ for the blind in three Durga Puja pandals of the metropolis. It is being told by the worship committee that such people do not have to depend on anyone to enjoy the grandeur of the festival, so this initiative is being taken.
This scheme will facilitate visually impaired persons to know in detail about the decoration and the idol by touching the surface of the ‘Braille Display Board’.
Hazra Park Durgotsav Samiti, State Bank Park at Thakurpukur and Young Boys Club Committee in Chitpur area will put up ‘Braille Display Boards’ on one side of the pandal.
A ‘Braille Display Board’ will be installed for the fifth year in a row by the Shiv Mandir Public in South Kolkata. Sayan Dev Chatterjee, Joint Secretary, Hazra Park, said, “Everyone wants to enjoy during Durga Puja, so we have decided to help visually impaired persons participate in the festival like normal people.”
Partha Ghosh, spokesperson of Shiv Mandir Sarvajanin Puja Committee, said, “We had introduced ‘Braille Display Board’ in our Durga Puja pandal in 2018. For a long time the need was felt for the visually impaired and differently-abled persons to enjoy the puja like normal people and appreciate the festival.
Ghosh said that this year more than 200 Durga Puja committees have taken initiative to provide various facilities at the pandals for senior citizens and differently-abled persons.
