BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has now directly warned that no one has the courage to cancel his ticket. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is accused of sexual harassment of women wrestlers, when asked about the speculation about his ticket being cut, has said, ‘Who is cutting my ticket’.

Journalists had asked Brij Bhushan whether he was getting the ticket? To this Brij Bhushan replied, ‘Tell me the name of who is cutting. will you bite? …will you bite? ….If you can bite, then bite.’ Saying this while laughing, Brij Bhushan moves ahead.

His statement came on Sunday when Delhi Police recently told the court that accused Brij Bhushan Singh never left any opportunity to sexually harass female wrestlers. Delhi Police said Brij Bhushan Singh forcibly hugged a female wrestler during an event in Tajikistan and later justified his act by saying he did it as a father.

Similar complaints of sexual harassment have been made in the FIR lodged by female wrestlers in Delhi. The complaint of an aggrieved wrestler states that on the day the female wrestler won a gold medal at a major championship, he called her to his room, made her sit on his bed against her will and forcefully hugged her without her consent. It says that for years thereafter, he continued to commit continued acts of sexual harassment and repeated lewd acts.

Other female wrestlers have since alleged multiple incidents of sexual harassment and misconduct, including groping, inappropriate touching and physical contact. It has been alleged that such sexual harassment took place during the tournament, warm-ups and even at the office of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) in New Delhi. He has said that on the pretext of checking his breathing, his chest and navel were held wrongly.

By the way, earlier Brij Bhushan had announced to contest the elections even when the protest of women wrestlers against him was at its peak and it seemed that BJP was under immense pressure to take action against him.

But then in the month of June, in a BJP rally in UP, Brij Bhushan had staked his claim for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the BJP platform itself. He took a jibe at the women wrestlers. Exactly as if he was not bothered by the allegations and protests against this level of sexual harassment of female wrestlers!

This entire case of sexual harassment shocked the country. Women wrestlers mentioned one incident each in the FIR. After complaining, the women wrestlers allegedly faced threats. Delhi Police registered an FIR against him during the protest at Jantar Mantar. The wrestlers had even announced their intention to throw their medals in the river.

Even after this, action has not been taken as per the demand of the wrestlers and there has been a lot of delay in it. So the question is why timely action was not taken? Who is Brijbhushan and how is he so powerful?

Brijbhushan Sharan Singh himself has tried his hand in the wrestling arena. After leaving wrestling, he jumped into the arena of politics. Earlier he was in Samajwadi Party and now he is in BJP. Sometimes he fielded himself as a candidate and sometimes he fielded his wife as a candidate.

It is said that Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, a wrestler, came into politics through the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. He was also prosecuted for the demolition of Babri Masjid. It is said that he does not need BJP as much as BJP needs Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in Uttar Pradesh. He has a strong hold in at least half a dozen districts around his native Gonda.

His status can also be gauged from the fact that he had allegedly talked about murder in an interview. He can be heard saying this in a video viral on social media.

In another video, he can be seen slapping someone on stage. A user named Rahul Ahir tweeted an old video and wrote that he had slapped a wrestler from UP who had come to an event with a complaint.

The political power of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh can also be gauged from the fact that he is a six-time MP. His son Prateek Bhushan is in his second term as MLA from Gonda Sadar.

Brij Bhushan Singh had criticized the Yogi Adityanath government during the floods in Uttar Pradesh in October last year. He accused the administration of being poorly prepared, not doing enough for relief and said people were left “to God’s mercy”. He even said that the present government does not tolerate criticism and takes it personally.

Neither from the Yogi government nor from the top leadership of BJP, there was any statement against Brij Bhushan Singh for such remarks. Singh had praised SP leader Azam Khan who is the target of BJP in the state.
