Nagpur. Unit-1 of Crime Branch had received information that a Tadipar was roaming in Pratapnagar area. As soon as the news was received, the police arrested him by laying a trap in the premises. On investigation, it was found that even while living in Tadipar, he had carried out the incident of burglary in the city. The arrested accused was identified as Sammat alias Ponga Santosh Dabhane (23), a resident of Subhash Nagar.
Ponga has been active in burglary incidents for a long time. Earlier he used to steal expensive taps from under-construction buildings. Even after this many incidents were carried out. Other criminal cases are also registered against him, that is why DCP Zone-1 had beaten him. On Wednesday, the police got information that Ponga was roaming in the IT Park premises under Pratapnagar police station. Immediately the police took him into custody. On searching, a knife was also recovered from him.
On further enquiry, Ponga told that on August 13, he had burgled the house of Suraj Verma, a resident of Kavale Layout, MIDC. The police seized Rs 40,000 in cash and goods worth Rs 1.20 lakh including the vehicle and handed them over to the MIDC police. Inspector Suhas Chowdhary, Head Constable Nutan Singh Chhari, Vinod Deshmukh, Suchit Gujar, Nitin Wasnik, Ajay Shukla, Sonu Bhavre, Shivshankar Rothe, Sharad Chambhare and Yogesh Satpute took action.
