North Bengal News Digital Desk: The central government has extended the period of free foodgrain distribution under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana by another three months. For now, the countrymen will get free food grains till December. Saugata’s argument is that poor people have not fully recovered from the crisis caused by Corona. So Saugat applied for at least six more months extension of the period which ended in September.
To deal with the crisis created during the Corona period, the central government started distributing free food grains. But as previously announced, that deadline is supposed to expire on September 30. In this situation, Saugata wrote to the Prime Minister and demanded an extension of the term. Saugata suggested that if for some reason it is not possible to supply these foodgrains completely free, then it should be supplied at the rate of the National Food Security Act. However, the Union Ministry of Food and Public Distribution recently said that if the Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana is to be continued after September, an additional 90 thousand crore rupees will be spent from the exchequer. But finally the Center agreed to extend the scheme for three months.
