Canada’s Shapovalov tops Brooksby to reach Korea Open final IG News

Denis Shapovalov advanced to the final of the Korea Open after a 7-5, 6-4 win over Jenson Brooksby in the semi-finals on Saturday.

The Richmond Hill, Ont., native, who is seeded fourth in the event, scored six aces and smashed four out of five chances in the match. He also won 72 percent of the first served marks.

Shapovalov, 23, entered the match with a straight-sets quarterfinal victory over Radu Albot.

American Brooksby, seeded eighth in the tournament, advanced with a walkover.

Brooksby faced Cameron Norie in the quarterfinals.

Shapovalov will next face Yoshihito Nishioka on Sunday.
