After good rains in Madhya Pradesh, water was released from Kota Barrage into Chambal river, due to which the water level of the river increased. On Wednesday morning, Chambal river was seen flowing 4 meters below the danger mark.
The water level of Chambal river has increased after the water released from Kota Barrage. Till Tuesday evening, the water level of the river below the Chambal bridge was about 125 meters. By Wednesday morning it has increased to about 126 meters. However, the water level of Chambal river is being continuously monitored by the district administration. On Monday, a dozen gates of Kota Barrage were opened and 2.50 lakh cusecs of water was released. After this, on Tuesday evening, 10 thousand cusecs of water was released from Kota Barrage by opening only two gates.
Dinesh Kumar Aggarwal, Superintending Engineer of the Irrigation Department, said that the water level in Chambal river was 125 meters on Tuesday evening. Which has increased by about one meter on Wednesday morning and reached near 126 meters. The warning mark in the river remains at 129.79 meters and the danger mark at 130.79 meters. But at present the water level remains below the warning level.
