After getting information of the incident, the Jharkhand High Court took suo motu cognizance of the matter and directed the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to take necessary action. Following this order of the High Court, the statement of the rescued girl was recorded and she was admitted to Kasturba Gandhi Residential School in Kodarama. This incident is on Friday.
According to a news published in New Indian Express, the incident is from Barsotiwar village in Koderma police station area. On Friday, a friend of the minor girl called Child Helpline 1098 and informed about the incident. Only then did the police enter the matter. The police rescued the girl and handed her over to the Child Welfare Committee and later admitted her to Kasturba Gandhi Residential School on Sunday with the help of DLSA, Childline and the local administration.
The report claims that the girl called 1098 and informed about her friend’s marriage. The girl who was to be married at a young age, is also only 13 years old. She wanted to study, but was being pressured to get married. The girl gave the address of her friend’s house to the police and pleaded for her rescue.
After this the administration took action and saved the girl child. The High Court also took notice of the incident and thereafter the girl was admitted to Kasturba Balika Vidyalaya. It is being told that the girl’s parents had fixed her marriage with a 22-year-old man from Giridih. The victim is a seventh standard student and has an elder and a younger brother. He also has a 12-year-old younger sister.
