Dulquer Salmaan and Sunny Deol-starrer thriller Quiet: Revenge of the Artist Courtesy of National Cinema Day, a good opening has been registered at the ticket counters. On the occasion of National Cinema Day, movie tickets cost only Rs 75. After Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra, Chup became the second most favorite movie of cine-lovers.
According to the report of Bollywood Hungama, the film directed by R Balki earned Rs. 2.60 to 3.20 crores on opening day. However, if the ticket prices had not been cut on Friday, the film would have struggled to even cross the one crore mark. Now that the film has attracted audiences, it can set an example for the cinema industry to notice how cheaper movie ticket prices can help people back to theatres.
Prior to its release, Chup recorded good advance ticket sales. As of Wednesday evening, the film had sold 63,000 tickets across India. And, on the day of its release, the film sold nearly 4 lakh tickets, which is more than the cumulative number of tickets sold for Ajay Devgn’s Runway 34, Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey and Ranveer Singh’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar.
Directed by R Balki, Chup is a psychological thriller that follows a serial killer (dulquer) who carves stars into the bodies of his victims, film critics. Apart from this, also starring Pooja Bhatt and Shreya Dhanwantri in pivotal roles, it is directed by Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Jayantilal Gada, Anil Naidu and Gauri Shinde.
