CM Mann to inaugurate Games at Bathinda on August 29: Meet Hare – News18 Punjab IG News

Chandigarh- Like last year, the games will start on August 29, the birthday of the hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand. In the season-2 of Games Watan Punjab, 5 new sports have been added namely cycling, horse riding, rugby, wushu and volleyball (shooting). In 35 games, eight age groups under 14, under 17, under 21, 21-30 years, 31-40 years, 41-55 years, 56-65 years and 65 years and above will be held.

The torch march going to Punjab for a week started from Ludhiana. Block level competitions will be held from September 1 to 10, district level from September 16 to 26 and state level competitions from October 1 to 20. Prizes of 10, 7 and 5 thousand rupees will be given to the first, second and third place winners at the state level. A portal has been launched by the Chief Minister for the registration of players on which the players are registering.

The torch march to be lit at the opening ceremony of the Games began today from the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana where the closing ceremony of the first season of the Games was held. This torch will tour all the 23 district headquarters of the state in March week and reach Bathinda on August 29 for the inauguration ceremony.

Athletics, Hockey, Football, Volleyball (Shooting and Smashing), Kabaddi (Circle and National Style), Handball, Boxing, Basketball, Wrestling, Judo, Archery, Shooting, Power Lifting, Lawn Tennis, Badminton, Kick Boxing, Kayaking and Canoeing, Competitions in Kho Kho, Gymnastics, Swimming, Netball, Gatka, Strings, Table Tennis, Roller Skating, Weightlifting, Softball, Rowing, Horse Riding, Cycling, Wushu, Rugby and Fencing will be held.
