The Royal Victoria Regional Health Center (RVH) and the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit have declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the health center’s adult mental health inpatient unit.

“The health and safety of employees, physicians, patients and our community remains our top priority, and we work closely with the Simco Muskoka District Health Unit and our infection prevention and control and occupational health and wellness teams to conduct a complete contact tracing. are doing. Other patients and the team on the unit investigate to determine any exposure to RVH,” says Gail Hunt, RVH President and CEO.

As of Friday, five patients in the unit have tested positive for COVID-19, the health center says.

The hospital has isolated the rest of the patients and better cleaning measures are being taken.

Staff say that along with contact tracing, patients and employees are also being screened.

There is no entry or transfer from the unit during the outbreak, and visitors are not permitted.
