COVID-19 outbreak declared at Kingston General Hospital – Kingston’s unit IG News

Kingston Health Sciences Center in Ontario has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 in a wing of Kingston General Hospital.

There are currently six COVID-19 positive patients at the Connel 9 unit, where the outbreak has been declared.

KHSC has enforced visitor restrictions and only essential visitors are allowed to visit the unit while the outbreak continues.

“KHSC’s top priority is the safety of our patients, health care workers and the community,” KHSC said in a press release.

“As we continue to see the community spread of COVID-19, KHSC thanks everyone in helping prevent the spread of the virus within the hospital, including adhering to our screening procedures, masking requirements and visitor restrictions “

KFL&A Public Health has been notified of the outbreak, and KHSC is notifying affected patients, visitors and staff.

Contact tracing and testing of patients and staff is also being done at the Connel 9 unit.
