Gopalaswamy, an elephant of peaceful nature who was one of the main attractions of Dussehra Gajapade, died after being seriously injured in a forest fight.
Mysore: Dussehra elephant Gopalaswamy (39), who was injured in the forest attack, died. The elephant died today (November 13) at the Mattigodu elephant camp in Hunsur Taluk, Mysore district, after the treatment failed.
39-year-old Gopalaswamy, who was trained in wild capture and taming, was injured in a fight with Ayyappa, an elephant who had been captured recently. Gopalaswamy, a peaceful elephant, has participated in a total of 14 Mysore Dussehra celebrations so far. This year’s Dussehra, the wooden Ambari got attention.
