Diwali for the people of Delhi is going to be deserted this time too. The Kejriwal government has issued an order on Monday (September 11, 2023) banning the manufacturing, storage and sale of firecrackers. Giving this information, Delhi’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai appealed to the people to celebrate Diwali by lighting lamps.

Delhi’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai said, “To stop the pollution caused by burning of firecrackers in Delhi, especially on the occasion of Diwali, CM Kejriwal has imposed a complete ban on the manufacturing, storage, sale, online delivery and burning of all types of firecrackers.” It has been decided to impose restrictions. “The police have been asked by the Delhi Pollution Control Board to issue instructions that no license of any kind should be issued.”

Journalists asked Gopal Rai about banning Hindu festivals. On this he said, “I think that in the changed circumstances, it is necessary for us to celebrate the festival with pomp and devotion. It is equally important to save the lives of all people. Therefore this decision is being taken for the last 2 years. Cooperation is also being received from the people of Delhi. We appeal to the people to celebrate Diwali with pomp and show by lighting lamps.”

He also said that the pollution level increases in Delhi during winter season. The average AQI of Delhi has been quite low from January to August. On September 10, AQI in Delhi was 45. But gradually in the month of October, as the winter increases, the atmosphere of Delhi becomes humid and the particulate matter starts accumulating here. In this, pollution outside Delhi and inside Delhi makes the air here poisonous.

Giving information about the planning to control pollution in Delhi, Gopal Rai said that the Delhi government has started the process of making an action plan to stop pollution. Under this, a meeting will be held with experts in Delhi Secretariat on September 12. There will be a meeting of officials of all departments on September 14. Winter action plan will be prepared in this.
