Delhi Police Detains 5 Minors For Stabbing A Teenager (Representative Image)
New Delhi: Delhi Police on Sunday said they have arrested 5 minors in connection with the stabbing of a 17-year-old. The incident took place in Patel Nagar area of the city, officials said.
The boy was returning from class: Police
According to police, the teenager was returning home from class on Friday night when he was stabbed. The police received a call at around 9.45 pm and a team rushed to the spot.
The police team took the bloodied child to a nearby hospital for treatment. In his statement to the police, the injured teenager told the police that he was surrounded by 7-8 boys when he was returning home after school. He was beaten and then stabbed.
So far, the police have managed to detain 5 minors because of the crime.
Stab after altercation: Police
The police announced that the minors who were detained told the police that they had a fight with the victim a few days ago. To get revenge, they ambushed him when he was alone and stabbed him.
Police seized the knife used in the crime. They have registered a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) and Section 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. The police are now looking for the other boys involved in the crime.
A recent case of stabbing minors
The stabbing of a minor in Delhi comes close on the heels of a similar case reported from Jehangirabad in Madhya Pradesh. In this small town in Madhya Pradesh, there was a knife incident that happened over a trivial matter.
In this case, two boys who were brothers were stabbed by their friends. The fight started because one of the boys didn’t want to call his friends “boss”. Enraged by the rejection, the boys stabbed him and later fled the scene.
The main accused in this case was a class 11 student. A case has been filed by the local police and the investigation is ongoing. The accused in this case have not been arrested so far.
