The Madras High Court has dismissed the bail pleas of three persons, including the son of a DMK councillor, who were arrested in the Krishnagiri soldier murder case.
Soldiers Prabhakaran and Prabhu hail from Velampatti MGR Nagar area of Krishnagiri district. While they had come to their hometown on vacation, they washed their clothes near the drinking water tank. Then Chinnaswamy, a DMK councilor of Nagarasambatti Municipal Council, raised this issue and an argument broke out between the two sides.
Chinnachamy, who had gone with his family members, severely assaulted the soldiers Prabhu, Prabhakaran, their mother Kannammal and father Mathayan. While all the four injured people were undergoing treatment at the Hosur private hospital, the soldier Prabhu succumbed to his injuries on the evening of February 14.
Nagarasambatti police station registered a case of murder and arrested 9 people including DMK councilor Chinnaswamy, his son Pulipandi, brother Kaliappan and cousin Mathayan. Meanwhile, Chinnaswamy’s son Pulipandi, brother Kaliappan and cousin Mathayan filed a petition in the Madras High Court seeking bail.
When this petition came up for hearing before Justice AD Jagadish Chandra, the police objected that the bail should not be granted as the court had approached the court in advance while the investigation was going on. Accepting this, the judge dismissed the bail petitions of the three persons.
