Pune : Elections to 608 gram panchayats in various 51 talukas of the state will be held on September 18, for which the code of conduct has been implemented from August 12. It includes 63 gram panchayats of Pune district and the Sarpanch post of these gram panchayats will be elected directly. Elections will be held on September 18 and counting of votes will be held on September 19.
These elections have been announced by the State Election Commission. According to that election programme, the Tehsildars of the respective talukas are going to release the election notification on August 18. Nominations for Gram Panchayats will be filed from August 24 to September 1. Scrutiny of applications will be on September 2, while the last date for withdrawal of nominations is September 6, the district administration said. Meanwhile, seats for backward classes of citizens will be reserved for these elections as per the percentage recommended by the dedicated State Backward Classes Commission. Elections will be held for 53 gram panchayats in the district, including 38 in Junnar taluka, 18 in Ambegaon taluka, five in Khed and two in Bhor taluka, the district administration said.
