FBR’s 8th computerized ballot paper for POS Challan Award Scheme completed IG News

ISLAMABAD: Continuing its ongoing monthly tradition, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Monday conducted the 8th computerized ballot paper of its flagship initiative of Point of Sale (PoS) Challan Award Scheme at FBR (HQ), Islamabad.
Total Rs. A press release issued by FBR here said that 54 million were distributed among 1017 lucky draw winners during the ceremony.
Dr. Faiz Elahi Memon, Member (Administration & Human Resources) FBR was the Chief Guest on the occasion, senior officials and representatives of mainstream national media also participated.
Addressing on the occasion, Dr Faiz Elahi emphasized that the POS rewards scheme is progressing successfully and efforts are being made to take forward the initiative to bring more Tier-1 retailers under POS.
He further reiterated that transparency and fairness were the two features of the scheme which were encouraging more and more people to participate in the innovative scheme with every passing month.
Dr Faiz Elahi remarked, ‘Continuity is the key to the success of any economic policy’ and expressed hope that the scheme will continue to pay its dividend.
The Chief Guest explained that digitization of economic transactions and automation of business processes were the two main pillars of a robust strategy being vigorously pursued by FBR to maximize tax compliance, prevent revenue leakage and ensure ease of doing business.
He informed the audience that measures are being taken to address the issues related to integration with POS systems of retailers and field formations of FBRs have been directed in this regard.
He expressed optimism that under the able leadership of Chairman FBR, Asim Ahmed, and with unwavering commitment and perseverance, FBR will achieve the revenue target set for the current financial year 2022-2023.
Earlier in his welcome note, Sardar Ali Khawaja, Member Public Relations, FBR urged the media to raise awareness among the public about the importance of the scheme for digitization and documentation of the economy.
He said that formalizing the national economy would further widen the tax base, which would contribute to the prosperity of the country.
It is noteworthy that the Federal Government approved the POS Invoice Reward Scheme in the Finance Bill-2021 to motivate the general public and the business community to fulfill their duty as responsible taxpayers.
Prior to this eighth round, seven computerized ballot papers of the POS award scheme have been successfully conducted by FBR this year.
This outreach campaign to woo taxpayers and top tier retailers has started paying dividends which is evident from the fact that the number of verified invoices was increasing continuously.
During the programme, video clips of the winners of last month’s prize scheme were also broadcast in which they lauded FBR for introducing the POS Lucky Draw scheme.
54 million out of Rs. 1 million contributed by Metro Pakistan, Rs 100,000 for each of the 10 winners.
All the winners were selected through a transparent computerized voting process, which was live in front of the national media. – Applications
