Federal agents standoff in Kansas after exchange of gunfire IG News

Overland Park, Kan. (AP) – Federal law enforcement agents were involved in a standoff Friday evening at a Kansas apartment complex after a shootout between a suspect and an agent while the officers attempted to serve a warrant, police said.

WDAF-TV reported that John Lacy of the Overland Park Police Department said the US Marshals Service and the FBI attempted to serve a felony warrant at the Villa Medici apartment around 5 p.m.

Lacey said officers stopped the suspect on the premises and the man pointed a gun at the agents before fleeing into the apartment.

Police said a US Marshal fired back, but it was unclear whether the suspect was killed.

The station reported that the man remained inside the apartment until 7 p.m. Friday.

Overland Park in Johnson County, Kansas, is approximately 12 miles (19 km) southwest of Kansas City, Missouri.
