Dhanbad, Jharkhand: Eight people were burnt alive and many others were injured in a terrible fire incident in Dhanbad city of Jharkhand state. At least 12 people have died and many others have been injured in a massive fire that broke out in a multi-storey building in Dhanbad, PTI reported. The injured have been shifted to the nearest hospital and are being treated. At present many people are suspected to be trapped inside the multi-storied building and the rescue operation is going on, officials said.

The entire building caught fire and was a disaster

The fire broke out at Ashirwad Tower in Joraphatak area of ​​Dhanbad, about 160 km from the state capital Ranchi, around 6 pm. It is said that the entire building was burnt due to the intensity of the fire.

A fire broke out during the wedding

According to preliminary information, a wedding ceremony of a resident was going on in the fourth floor of the building where the fire broke out. But by then the fire had engulfed the entire building.

At least 12 people, including three children, were killed in the incident, the District Collector of Dhanbad said, ANI reported. It is said that the condition of many people is worrying and the number of deaths is likely to increase.

Treat the injured at the nearest hospital

“14 people including 10 women, 3 children and one man died in a massive fire at an apartment in Dhanbad. The Deputy Commissioner of Dhanbad confirmed that the rescue operation is still going on at the spot. Officials have shifted the 18 rescued people to the nearby Patliputra Nursing Home where they are undergoing treatment, sources said.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s condolence

At present, fire brigade personnel are engaged in rescuing the trapped residents on the sixth and seventh floors of the building. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has condoled the death of many people after the apartment caught fire. “This is very heartbreaking,” said Chief Minister Hemant Soren. “The district administration is functioning at Samaropadi and all the injured are being treated. I am personally monitoring all the developments regarding the incident,” the chief minister said. May God grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families, he tweeted.

The death toll is likely to rise

Dhanbad’s law and order DSP told the media that many people are feared to be trapped inside the building. “A few deaths have been reported. The exact number cannot be verified as rescue operations are still underway,” officials said.
