The Moncton Fire Department responded to a house fire Tuesday morning, the fourth fire in the city in the past week.
Firefighters were called to a home on Waverly Avenue in the heart of the city just after 7 a.m.
All four adults who were in the home at the time of the fire were safely evacuated before firefighters arrived.
No one was injured in the fire in the basement.
Platoon Chief Brian McDonald of the Moncton Fire Department says the fire was quickly contained, but the one-story home has sustained significant fire, smoke and water damage.
