New Delhi, September 25 (Language) Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Monday said that strict action will be taken against agencies violating dust control norms in the national capital.
The Environment Minister held a meeting with officials of government and private construction agencies and directed them to follow the Delhi Government guidelines to prevent dust pollution during the winter season.
“All agencies engaged in construction work have been directed to follow 14-point guidelines to control dust pollution,” Gopal Rai said in a post on ‘X’.
He said it is mandatory to install anti-smog guns at construction and demolition sites larger than 5,000 square metres. Additionally, all construction agencies will have to provide on-site training to workers regarding the guidelines.
The guidelines include erecting dust/windproof walls of appropriate height around construction sites and covering scaffolds with tarpaulin or green net.
The guidelines said all vehicles, including those transporting construction material and debris, should be cleaned and their wheels washed. Additionally, debris and materials should be stored on-site, not on public roads or sidewalks.
The agencies are also expected not to grind and cut construction materials in open areas and instead use wet jet.
