In the second qualifier match of IPL 2023 played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad yesterday, Gujarat Titans defeated Mumbai Indians and qualified for the final for the second time in a row. Gujarat defeated Mumbai by 62 runs. Gujarat will again face Chennai Super Kings in the final match. Chennai will be playing in the final for the 10th time.
The Gujarat Titans team will play their second consecutive final after debuting last season. The team won the title last year by defeating Rajasthan Royals. The Gujarat team will also take revenge against Chennai in the final. Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s team defeated Hardik Pandya’s team in Qualifier-1.
Mumbai team was all out for 171 runs in 18.2 overs against a target of 234 runs from Gujarat. Only Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Verma and Cameron Green managed to score in double digits for Mumbai. Suryakumar scored the highest 61 runs in 38 balls. He hit seven fours and two sixes. Tilak Verma scored 43 runs in 14 balls. Along with this, Cameron Green contributed 30 runs in 20 balls.
Gujarat’s bowlers had a great performance. Mohammad Shami dismissed Rohit and Nehal in his first two overs to give Gujarat a big win. After that, Mohit Sharma took five wickets and broke the courage of the Mumbai team. Rashid Khan got two wickets and Joshua Little one.
Shubman Gill scored the highest 129 runs from Gujarat. He hit seven fours and 10 sixes in a 60-ball innings. This is Gill’s third century in four matches. He scored centuries against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the last two matches of the league round. Sai Sudarshan scored 43 runs off 31 balls apart from Gill, he retired. Captain Hardik Pandya scored an unbeaten 28 off 13 balls. He hit two fours and two sixes. Wriddhiman Saha scored 18 runs in 16 balls. Rashid Khan remained unbeaten scoring five runs in two balls. Akash Madhwal and Piyush Chawla took one wicket each for Mumbai Indians.
