Duffy, a sniffer dog from Thanjavur, was later called in and tracked down, but the dog ran only a short distance. Also, the forensic department examined the broken bottle and tested its fingerprints. Following this, the police investigated and found that if the glass bottle filled with kerosene had been thrown from a distance, it would have been scattered.

But the police first became suspicious when a broken bottle was lying in one place without scattering on the street. Also, comparing Chakrapani’s activities with the activities of various Hindu organizations in the Kumbakonam region, his activities are not remarkable. Chakrapani’s claim that there was no personal grudge made the police suspicious.
