Tabish Gohar, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan, hinted at an increase in the price of electricity.
Talking on Geo News program New Pakistan, Tabish Gohar said that there may be some increase in the price of electricity in October.
“If crude oil prices continue to rise, we will also have to review prices,” he said.
The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister further said that the price of petrol and diesel in Pakistan is lower than that of neighboring countries.
He said that GST on petroleum products is 17% and it could be revised to reduce inflation.
Tabish Gohar also said that we are trying our best not to increase the revolving credit, steps are being taken for this.
He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has instructed not to increase electricity prices in the current financial year, we may have to increase some money in terms of electricity in October.
The Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan said that we have made it clear to the IMF that when electricity prices go up, theft increases and so does the payment of bills.
He said that he has told the IMF that raising electricity prices is not in the interest of the country, we have tried in 2 years to increase the rate of payment of electricity bills to 90%.
