LAHORE: Punjab Police has obtained a three-day physical remand of an accused who crushed an officer under a vehicle in Garden Town.
Significant progress has been made in the incident of trampling a security force officer under a luxury vehicle in Garden Town area of Lahore, the capital of Punjab. Investigation police have obtained a three-day physical remand of accused Hamza.
Police said that the accused claimed Rs. 25 million in the vehicle during interrogation but the vehicle was completely burnt and no amount was known.
Police say the accused owns a textile mill in Faisalabad while further investigation is underway.
During interrogation, the accused said that he had bought the car from a man named Umar Sheikh in a showroom near Mall Road and had met Umar Sheikh at the hotel. He had brought money to buy a new car.
On the other hand, questions have started to arise on the incident of luxury car collision and fire on Canal Road, how the car reached Garden Town from Mall Road Hotel.
Sources said that an unidentified person had called the hotel management to give a room to the car owner, on which the hotel management, knowing the matter as suspicious, informed the police.
As soon as the information was received, two policemen of the security forces, Ashiq and Munawar, reached the hotel and asked the man in the luxury vehicle to walk to the police station.
According to sources, a man named Hamza Javed offered a bribe of Rs 200,000 to the policeman, after which the policemen went to the canal instead of going to the police station located at a distance of 1 km.
Sources further said that Munawar and Hamza Javed had a heated exchange of words on the canal, which worsened the situation and resulted in the officer being crushed and the vehicle caught fire.
According to police, three persons including a civilian were injured in the accident. An FIR has been registered under the provisions of attempted murder, kidnapping and other provisions.
