In the 17th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 6, Lahore Qalandars beat Peshawar Zalmi thanks to Rashid Khan’s devastating bowling. Rashid Khan took 5 wickets for Zalmai for 20 runs in 4 overs.
Peshawar Zalmi scored 160 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs and Lahore Qalandars won the match by 10 runs.
In pursuit of the target, Peshawar Zalmi did not have a good start. On 5 runs, his two players Kamran Akmal and Haider Ali were dismissed for 1 and 3 runs respectively.
Shoaib Malik along with David Miller handled Zalmai’s innings, but Miller could not stay ahead of Rashid Khan’s bowling and returned to the pavilion after playing an innings of 21 runs.
Shoaib Malik showed excellent play and the team’s score went ahead, but on the other hand, Zalmai’s players got out in turns.
Peshawar Zalmi’s 6 players returned to the pavilion on a total of 73, then Zalmi’s captain Wahab Riaz and Shoaib Malik brought the score to 114, Wahab also left with Shoaib after scoring 17 runs.
Peshawar Zalmai’s last hope Shoaib Malik was also dismissed for 73 runs. Newcomer Ameed Asif played aggressively and scored 23 off 12 balls with the help of 3 sixes.
For Lahore Qalandars, Rashid Khan took 5 wickets while James Faulkner took 2 wickets and Haris Rauf took 2 wickets.
Earlier, Lahore Qalandars had given a target of 171 runs to Peshawar Zalmi to win. Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and invited Lahore Qalandars to bat.
Lahore Qalandars scored 170 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Tim David played a remarkable game and remained unbeaten on 68 runs off 36 balls.
Fabian Allen took two wickets for Peshawar Zalmi while Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Irfan, Ameed Asif and Mohammad Imran took one wicket each for Qalandars.
