ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Energy Hamad Azhar has said in an important statement that the government wants to achieve the IMF target in its own way.
Speaking on ARY News’ special budget program, Azhar said, “We have told the IMF that we want to achieve the target in our own way.”
He said that the IMF has set a target to reduce the increase in circular debt, talks are underway with him regarding this target, in fact the circular debt was increasing due to expensive electricity contracts.
The Federal Minister said that the IMF target would be achieved by increasing the subsidies by the government. He said that we will pay more attention to the subsidies related to the increase in electricity tariff.

“The government is in talks with the IMF to give us a chance. We have told the IMF that we want to achieve the target in our own way. What was the growth target of the IMF? Has performed in it.
“We are in talks with the IMF on electricity prices. Other targets have been achieved. We have not increased the rate of direct and indirect taxes in the budget, instead of raising taxes,” he said. We need to improve the tax system.
Hamad Azhar also spoke about the previous governments in the program. He said that the debts of the previous governments cannot be credited to our account. We repaid the interest on these loans. But we restored it to its original value.
