LAHORE: Pakistan Railways spokesman has announced to start investigation into the train accident near Ghotki from June 16. The investigation into the train accident will continue for three days.
According to the details, a statement issued by the spokesperson of Pakistan Railways said that the investigation into the Ghotki train accident will start from June 16, the investigation will be headed by Federal Railway Inspector Farrukh Timur, while the statement or evidence regarding the accident will be received at DS Office Sukkur. According to the PR spokesperson, the investigation into the Ghotki train accident will continue for three days.
Earlier, Federal Minister for Railways Azam Swati had suspended nine senior PR officers from Sukkur, Karachi and Lahore divisions for taking action against negligent and incompetent officers in the train accident.
Among those suspended were DEN-II Sukkur Ghulam Qadir Lakho, AME-1 Sukkur Abdul Aziz, PWI Mirpur Qazi Shamsuddin, Sub-Engineer Arun Karachi Division, Ibtisam-ul-Hassan, ATWA, ACO Sukkur Nihal Khan.
Railway officials from Karachi to Deputy Divisional Superintendent Karachi Civil Shaukat Ali Sheikh, DEN to Karachi Mujeeb Rehman, PWI Hyderabad Mr. Mansoor Anwar, Divisional Mechanical Engineer 2 Lahore Muhammad Imran, Assistant Traffic Officer Sukkur, AME Sukkur and TX R Karachi was also suspended.
It is to be noted that a horrific incident took place between Millat Express and Sir Syed Express in which 63 people were killed and more than 100 were injured.
