Karachi: Why does the Water Board not provide water to the consumers?
According to details, a case of water supply to cantonment areas was heard in the Supreme Court Karachi Registry today. The Chief Justice reprimanded the MD Water Board and questioned the existence of the institution for not providing water to the consumers.
The Chief Justice said in his remarks that when water comes in the tanker, why don’t the houses get it? Why doesn’t the water board provide water to the consumers? Societies are forming on Hawke’s Bay, and all the water is being diverted there. What will the people of Karachi do? How will Karachi get water?
In his remarks, the Chief Justice of Pakistan said in a stern tone that all are involved in water theft, officers, politicians and influential people get water but the common man does not.
He said that water is being pumped out from under the Lyari Expressway, this bridge will collapse one day, the poor people of Lyari are forced to drink black water, if you do not give water, why are you sitting?
The Chief Justice slammed the MD Water Board and said, “What is the purpose of this institution?” End such an institution. Addressing the Advocate General, the Chief Justice said that the water board should be dissolved, private people should be kept at the pumping stations, thus many billions of rupees would be saved.
The MD Water Board, under the guise of the Four project, told the court that the K4 project would provide ample water to Karachi. The court inquired when the project was delayed for a long time. The MD said that now K4 is entrusted to the federation so only the federation can tell better.
The Supreme Court summoned the chairman of WAPDA on June 16. A detailed report of the K4 project has also been sought in the Supreme Court.
