Diamer: Rains and floods in Gilgit-Baltistan’s Diamer district have caused devastation, with floods affecting crops and halting production of power plants.
According to details, intermittent rain is continuing in Chilas city of Gilgit-Baltistan. The floods have affected hydropower plants and crop production. A landslide occurred in Babusar Thak Niyat after which Babusar Highway was closed.
The link road in Ferry Meadows was also closed due to landslides, after which the tourists were trapped. The closure of the Babusar Naran National Highway also stranded vehicles carrying large numbers of children and women.
The link roads of Batu Gah and Khanir were also flooded, and the restoration work of connecting highways and roads has been delayed.
Overall, the flood situation in the entire Diamer district has wreaked havoc everywhere. Rains flooded drains in Daril and Tangir sub-divisions, rains and floods in Niyat and Khanir valleys affected crops and a house collapsed.
In Batu Gah, rains destroyed crops and severely damaged access roads.
