Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has told his Afghan counterpart that the security of the Afghan embassy and consulate in Pakistan has been beefed up and it is expected that the Afghan government will take into account the serious efforts of Pakistan.
Bilateral issues were discussed in a telephone conversation between Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his Afghan counterpart.
In a telephone conversation with his Afghan counterpart Mohammad Hanif Atmar, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi briefed him on the steps taken on July 16, 2021 and assured that the accused would be arrested soon.
The Foreign Minister said that all possible steps would be taken by Pakistan to bring the accused to justice. The Foreign Ministry is well aware of the prevailing diplomatic traditions.
On the occasion, the Afghan Foreign Minister thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan for taking a personal interest in the investigation of the incident and appreciated Shah Mehmood’s efforts to increase the security of the Afghan Embassy and Consulate.
Giving details of his telephone conversation with his Afghan counterpart, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the Afghan government is expected to reconsider its decision to recall its ambassador and senior diplomats.
He said that Afghanistan attaches special importance to bilateral relations with Pakistan and the two Foreign Ministers agreed to continue contacts on issues of mutual interest.
